Sharks enjoying the rest while waiting for opponent
The San Jose Sharks were watching the Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks play Game 6 Tuesday night, just like the rest of the hockey world.
"Triple overtime every night would be ideal," Sharks coach Todd McLellan joked.
The Sharks get the winner of the Hawks-Canucks series in the Western Conference finals, which is why they were rooting for it to go seven grueling games.
The more rest, the better, McLellan said.
"I'm just hoping they go seven games, beat each other up and we'll take whoever," Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle said.
San Jose has been off since eliminating the Red Wings in five games on Saturday night.
The extra days of rest are allowing the Sharks to get rid of their bumps and bruises, particularly defenseman Niclas Wallin, who has been battling a lower body injury. He is expected to be healthy for the next round.
The Sharks will host Games 1 and 2 of the West finals but because of concerts, HP Pavilion isn't available on Thursday or Saturday. That would figure to make Friday or Sunday a likely starting date, but it's the NHL's call to make.
