Mount Prospectbull; Police stopped an 81-year-old Mount Prospect woman from sending two personal checks, totaling $6,000, to thieves who phoned her. An officer stopped the woman at the Prospect Heights Post Office, 9 South Elmhurst Road, around noon May 4 and convinced her not to mail the checks. According to reports, a man who identified himself as "John" on the phone told the woman he would send her $50,000 if she sent the two checks to a man in Washington, D.C. John warned her that if she did not send the money, he would come to her house and hurt her. He also warned her not to contact the police. The officer determined the call was coming from Jamaica and the offer was a scam. bull; Terry L. Marks, 37, of the 200 block of East Euclid Avenue, Prospect Heights, was arrested around 1:10 a.m. May 3 outside his home and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and traffic violations. His court date is May 10.bull; A vandal broke the outer pane of a window at a home on the 2100 block of Prendergast between 6 p.m. May 1 and 8 a.m. May 2. Damage was estimated at $500.bull; A vandal broke a window at a townhouse on the 1000 block of Boxwood Drive between 4 p.m. May 1 and 11:30 a.m. May 2. Damage was estimated at $200.Des Plainesbull; Samantha A. Bieber, 19, of the 500 block of Amberwood Court, Algonquin, and Candice L. Riggs, 19, of the 800 block of Bolz Road, Carpentersville, were arrested around 9:10 p.m. May 5 inside Dunkin Donuts, 782 W. Oakton St. Bieber was charged with two counts possession of drug paraphernalia, and Riggs was charged with possession of marijuana. According to reports, the women did not have enough money to pay for their order and were giving the cashier a hard time when the officer entered the shop. A preliminary court date was not available.bull; A locked men's black and silver 24-speed mountain bike valued at $300 was reported stolen between 11:30 p.m. May 4 and 1:30 p.m. May 5 from an apartment garage on the 1600 block of Mill Street. bull; Larry M. Williams, 27, of the 100 block of Dover Drive, Des Plaines, was arrested around 3:50 a.m. May 5 on the 1400 block of East Miner Street and charged with city ordinance battery after a confrontation with officers. His court date is May 26.bull; A red 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse was reported stolen between 8 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. May 4 out of a business lot at 25 E. Algonquin Road.Arlington Heightsbull; Dyrmekia T. White, 27, of the 8300 block of West Northridge Court, Milwaukee, Wis., was arrested around 8:40 p.m. May 5 in a hotel on the 400 block of West Algonquin Road and charged with prostitution after an undercover officer responded to her online ad. Her preliminary court date was not available.bull; Three suitcases were reported stolen from a 007 Ford Explorer in a hotel lot at 75 W. Algonquin Road between 9:05 p.m. May 5 and 6:20 a.m. May 6. Algonquin Road between 8 p.m. April 28 and 8:30 a.m. April 29. The items were valued at $2,000.bull; Someone dug up and stole two rhododendron plants valued at $90 out of a yard at a home on the 4100 block of North Kennicott between 4 p.m. May 3 and 2 p.m. May 4.
