Theater group to hold 'Music Man' auditions

Kaneland Community Summer Theater will hold auditions for "The Music Man" at Kaneland High School, 47W326 Keslinger Road, Maple Park. Use the auditorium entrance on the southeast corner of the building.

The auditions for participants 13 years and older are at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 or Friday, May 21. The auditions for children ages 8 to 12 years old are at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 22.

Call backs will begin at noon Saturday, May 22. Children auditioning and accompanying parents/guardians attending the May 22 audition should be prepared to stay for callbacks. Those attending auditions on Wednesday or Friday will be notified by phone if called back.

The performance, directed by Diane McFarlin, will be at 7 p.m. Friday, July 16, and Saturday, July 17, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18. Tickets are $10 or $8 for students and seniors. There also is a $23 family ticket, which includes all family members living in one household.

All persons auditioning are expected to act in a professional manner and not to interfere in the audition process in any way. Children ages 12 years old and under are required to attend the Saturday audition with a parent or guardian.

Those auditioning must stay until dismissed by a KCST staff member. Please realize that auditions can run up to three hours long. Those auditioning are required to sing, read and dance.

Comfortable clothes should be worn and participants should be prepared to move for the dance portion of the audition. Participants should come with music and be prepared to sing. They can sing something from the "Music Man" or a song of a similar style. An accompanist will be provided for the singing portion of the audition.

Those auditioning will be given everything they need for the reading portion of the audition.
