Schaumburg teen charged with sexually assaulting 5-year-old

A 15-year-old Schaumburg teen is facing charges that he sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl.

The teen is being charged as an adult on one felony count of aggravated criminal sexual assault. Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Robin Murphy said the young girl was visiting the teen's home with a brother when the assault occurred May 19.

The teen's parents, who attended his bond hearing Saturday, said their son is not guilty. They also raised concerns about the police questioning him without them being present.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Roti set the teen's bail at $10,000, meaning he would have to post $1,000 to get out of jail pending additional court hearings. His parents expected to bail him out Saturday, though the judge also ordered the teen not to leave his house if he did get out of jail, other than for school and medical reasons.

His next court date is June 16 in the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
