You can still get DeWyze concert tickets; here's how
Fans knew Lee DeWyze was going to make the cut on "American Idol," last night, evidenced by the fact that fully half of the 30,000 seats for the concert at Arlington Park were bought ahead of time, by people who simply bought race day tickets.
The rest of the tickets, given away free, were scooped up online in 12 minutes after the show, said Arlington Park spokesman Dave Zenner.
"We still have to run the officials reports, but it looks like a lot of people took advantage of buying tickets ahead of time," he said.
There are no free tickets remaining, Zenner said.
But fans still have a shot at getting into the concert.
This morning the track put a limited number of tickets on sale for $6 and will be giving away hundreds of tickets today and tomorrow to "fans" of the track's Facebook page, Zenner said.
Many are tickets that were bought but the credit card transactions didn't go through, he said.
For example, the track is giving away 100 pairs of tickets later today for people who "fan" the track's Facebook page.
There will be more promotions tomorrow, Zenner said.
The key to securing tickets last night was to log on to the track's website early, like Arlington Heights resident Margaret Kaden did.
"I started about five minutes before 9 p.m. and was able to get four tickets," she said. "But then I couldn't get them to print, it said 'error notify webmaster' on my screen."
Despite Kaden's experience, there were few technical problems reported last night and today, Zenner said.
"We are thrilled that Lee has advanced to the final three and are honored that Arlington Park has been chosen to host this special event," said Arlington Park President Roy Arnold.
"The response by the great 'American Idol' fans was unbelievable and the tickets for the free mini-concert were gone almost immediately."
