Glen Ellyn principal promoted
The principal of Briar Glen Elementary School has been promoted to a new role within Glen Ellyn District 89.
Emily Tammaru, who has been the principal at Briar Glen since 1997, on July 1 will become District 89's assistant superintendent for learning. She will replace Jamie Reilly, who is leaving the district on June 30 to become the superintendent of Golf School District 67 in Morton Grove.
District 89 officials said Tammaru brings "a high quality and informed perspective" to her new position. The district now is searching for a principal for Briar Glen.
If the right candidate doesn't emerge, officials said, an interim principal will be hired for the 2010-11 school year.
