No answer as to why teams are having success on road

Q. What's the deal with the home teams playing so poorly in this series?

A. I have no idea, and I don't think the coaches can figure out what's going on either.

These are two teams that were very successful on their home ice the past several years, and they are probably pretty mystified as to why they can't establish dominance in their own building.

I think maybe the home team has felt pressure to try to do a bit too much and is getting away from the focus of where they needed to be.

Q. Was Roberto Luongo that good Sunday, or were the Hawks just not pestering him enough?

A. It was a combination of a lot of things, but I thought Roberto Luongo was as solid as he's been in the playoffs - no rebounds whatsoever.

I can't even think of one that was lying there. He didn't create the second and third opportunities that were so costly for Vancouver in the last couple of games.

And Vancouver's defense kept the Blackhawks on the perimeter and there was very little penetration in the middle of the ice. Any time there was a shot there, Luongo was tremendous in not giving up any rebounds.

Q. What's your confidence level heading into Tuesday night's game?

A. (Laughs) I don't really have a clue. I guess the momentum is back in the favor of Vancouver, but I still like the position the Blackhawks are in to force the issue.

It's not a do-or-die situation for the Blackhawks, but they have to play with a ton of desperation. For Vancouver, it is do-or-die, so I don't know which that favors more.

We've seen so many strange things happen in the playoffs already. Vancouver is certainly not going to go away easily.
