Celebrate movie anniversary by signing up for run/walk
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of "The Blues Brothers" movie, The Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce will host the second annual Mount Prospect Corporate Challenge, a 5K run and walk, on Thursday, Aug. 5.
Last year more than 250 runners signed up for the inaugural race at the Kensington Industrial Park. This year, the first 500 runners who sign up for the run/walk get dark sunglasses, a T-shirt and a black hat.
A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Northwest Suburban United Way.

Mount Prospect was referenced in "The Blues Brothers" when Dan Aykroyd, in a letter to a Mount Prospect police officer, said that he used the village's police department because he heard that they were a tough group that did not take any attitude from folks from the big city (Chicago).
In fact, one of the police cars driven by Elwood Blues and "Joliet" Jake Blues allegedly came from the Mount Prospect Police Department.
"I picked it up at the Mount Prospect City Police auction last spring," said Aykroyd in the movie. "It's an old Mount Prospect police car."
