Woodstock man arrested on meth charges

Bond was set at $100,000 on Saturday for a Woodstock man charged with manufacturing methamphetamine in a car.

Police said Joshua Slaten, 33, of the 15500 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road, was a passenger in a white Chevrolet Impala that officers pulled over in a routine traffic stop at 6:03 p.m. Friday on the 300 block of South Madison Street in Woodstock. Officers found drug paraphernalia and "substances consistent with the manufacturing of narcotics" in the car, authorities said.

Slaten was arrested after a short chase and charged with unlawful participation in methamphetamine production, methamphetamine manufacturing material and methamphetamine possession, all felonies, police said. A female driver was not charged.

The incident prompted a hazardous materials response with assistance from the Illinois State Police and the Woodstock Fire Rescue District, authorities said.

Slaten, who returns to court April 15, was being held in the McHenry County jail Saturday. He would have to post $10,000 to be released.
