Saints agree to terms with ex-Bear Alex Brown
METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints and free-agent defensive end Alex Brown have agreed to terms on a two-year contract.
Saints spokesman Greg Bensel says the former Bears lineman visited the Saints' suburban training headquarters on Tuesday and Wednesday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis had cited defensive end among the defending Super Bowl champion's more pressing needs since the release of Charles Grant this year.
Brown, a former Florida standout who'll be 31 in June, has played all eight of his NFL seasons for Chicago, which released him last week. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound lineman started all 16 games for the Bears last season. His six sacks ranked second on the team.
