Earth Day in LindenhurstCelebrate Earth Day in Lindenhurst on Saturday, April 24. The day starts with a villagewide cleanup at 9 a.m. Groups should meet in front of the village hall, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road, at 8:45 a.m. Garbage bags will be provided. Exhibitors' booths will open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The day includes a tour of the police department and a tree planting at 11:30 a.m. Children's activities start at 10 a.m. and include a Nut Hunt, bingo, face painting and more. They have already raised more than $2,000 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Families are invited to join the firefighters on Monday, April 19, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Wauconda Fire Station 1, 109 W. Liberty St., Wauconda, for food, music and a chance to see the fire trucks and ambulances at the station. For details call, (847) 416-7583.Test drive for Warren High boostersGurnee residents and others in surrounding communities will have a chance to raise up to $6,000 for a Warren Township High School booster club by testing driving a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle. The event will be at Warren's O'Plaine Road campus parking lot, just south of Grand Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 25. Ford Motor Co. and its Gurnee dealership will donate $20 to the Blue Devil Booster Club for every person who test drives one of nine vehicles. Each test drive will last about 5 minutes. Money from the privately run booster organization goes toward financial and moral support to all sports programs and athletes at Warren. Other activities on tap that day will include a Warren Township High School Devilettes car wash. All who participate in Ford's Drive One 4 UR School event will be eligible to win a netbook computer. Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license.
