Two being held in connection with Streamwood shooting

The two people being held in connection with Sunday's shooting of a 20-year-old man in Streamwood should appear in bond court this morning, authorities said.

Police were waiting for the approval of the Cook County state's attorney office to charge the pair, Streamwood Deputy Police Chief James Keegan said. He expected the state's attorney's office to finalize charges either Monday night or Tuesday morning against at least one of the two.

"We're still chasing a few leads," he said Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were called around 5:25 p.m. to the 4000 block of Club Tree Drive after the man was found sitting on a curb with what appeared to be shotgun wounds to his stomach and upper thigh, said Battalion Chief Jeff Swanson of the Streamwood Fire Department. He was treated at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Swanson said the shooting occurred outside near a basketball court.

Keegan said shortly after the shooting, a car carrying the two persons of interest was stopped and a weapon was recovered. The two have been in custody since then.
