Ex-Cary official admits having child porn

A former Cary assistant public works director could be jailed for 10 years and must register as a sex offender after pleading guilty to one count of possession of child pornography.

Jeffrey S. Schroeder, 53, of Trevor Wis., also faces a $250,000 fine and a mandatory minimum of five years to life of supervised release after pleading guilty Monday.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 13 in Wisconsin federal court.

Schroeder was placed on paid administrative leave after being indicted in December on charges he possessed child pornography. He was fired a month later.

Schroeder was a village employee for a little more than two years.

According to court documents, Schroeder possessed computer discs that showed children engaged in sexual behavior.

Officials said Schroeder would cut-and-paste the faces of his daughters friends and superimpose those faces over the faces of women involved in pornographic scenes. Then, he would cut and paste his own face over the men is some of the photos.
