Arlington Heightsbull; Mary A. Hernandez, 60, of the 1700 block of East Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 4:45 p.m. March 3 at Jewel-Osco, 1860 S. Arlington Heights Road, and charged with retail theft. Reports said she hid 16 items in her purse; value was estimated at $120. Her court date is April 9.bull; Burglars broke into a 2008 Subaru Impreza in an apartment lot on the 1700 block of Woods Drive between 4 and 7 p.m. March 2 and stole a GPS unit, phone charger and two adapters. Loss was estimated at $1,100. bull; Thieves stole a locked black bicycle with silver handlebars out of a stairwell in an apartment building on the 400 block of East Seegers Road between Feb. 26 and March 1. Value was estimated at $1,500. bull; Burglars broke into a 1995 Honda Accord on the 0-100 block of South Vail between 3 and 10 p.m. March 2 and stole the in-dash radio/CD player, loose change, 300 CDs and CD case. Value was estimated at $3,255.Barringtonbull; Thieves stole a white 2009 GMC Acadia from the Metra lot at 201 Spring St. around 3 p.m. Feb. 28. The female victim believes she left the car keys on top of the fare box.Buffalo Grovebull; A citizen reported observing a vehicle driving from Northbrook to Buffalo Grove in an erratic manner Feb. 25. An officer spoke with the driver of that vehicle, who stated, "I have some debris in the gas tank that blocks the gas from getting to the engine, when the fuel is low. When the engine begins to stall I swerve, drive onto the median or brake abruptly to shake the fuel in the gas tank to clear the obstruction." The officer reported that the driver did not appear impaired in any way and suggested to the driver that it would be a good idea to have the vehicle repaired. bull; Jean Carol Usry, 44, of the 4900 block of West Erie Street, was arrested Feb. 25 at Dominick's, 770 South Buffalo Grove Road, and charged with felony retail theft. Store security personnel reported seeing her place two boxes of alcohol into a shopping cart, disguise the boxes with a quantity of toilet paper and leave the store without paying for the items. The loss prevention officer was able to detain her and recover the items. bull; Michael Damian Matusek, 26, of the 800 Block of Plum Grove Road, Palatine, was charged with two counts of identity theft and two counts of misuse of a credit card following an incident March 1.bull; A woman told police March 1 that she was out with her 16-year-old son who was driving on a permit. While they driving down the street, a vehicle pulled out from the curb and the son beeped his horn and the mother gave the other driver the finger. The other driver then followed beeping her horn and tailgating, reports said. An officer spoke with both the mother and the other driver at Bernard Drive and White Pine Road and advised them of their misguided actions. bull; A manager at the Buffalo Grove Theaters, 120 McHenry Road, reported that some youths in the theater during the afternoon March 1 were in possession of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated. Two 17-year-old Glenview youths were arrested on charges of possession and consumption of alcohol as minors.Des Plainesbull; Burglars stole a cell phone/PDA and car charger out of a 2000 Toyota Solara on the 1600 block of South Illinois Street between Feb. 27 and March 1. Value was estimated at $2,000.bull; Thieves stole a macro zoom camera with multiple lenses and a blue camera case out of a dentist's office at 712 Lee St. between Feb. 8 and March 2. Value was estimated at $1,500.bull; Burglars stole two pairs of designer sunglasses, five CDs, and a 24-pack case of vitamin water out of an unlocked 2008 BMW in a condominium lot on the 800 block of Pearson Street between 10 p.m. March 1 and 8 a.m. March 2. Value was estimated at $560.Mount Prospectbull; Thieves stole a red 2000 Plymouth Neon valued at $1,000 around 4:30 a.m. Feb. 22 after the female victim left the engine running in an apartment lot on the 300 block of Hawthorne Circle. An officer saw a red Neon matching the stolen car's description traveling south on Elmhurst Road; the officer followed the car and its male driver but terminated the pursuit when the car entered the eastbound I-90 ramp.bull; Vandals spray painted or used black marker to write gang graffiti in several locations in town: on three wooden Dumpster enclosures on the 1000, 1400, and 1500 blocks of Cottonwood Lane; on a brick and wood wall at the pool in an apartment complex on the 1300 block of South Elmhurst Road; on a white 1995 GMC van in an apartment lot on the 600 block of Huntington Commons Road, and on an exterior brick wall at an apartment building on the 1100 block of North Wheeling Road. Total damage was estimated at $700.Palatine bull; Joshua M. Skolnik, 19, of the 100 block of South Greeley Street, Palatine, was arrested around 2:55 p.m. Feb. 23 at 7-Eleven, 753 W. Palatine Road, and charged with local ordinance possession of marijuana. An officer standing in line behind Skolnik saw a small bag of marijuana fall from his pocket when he reached in for something else, reports said. bull; Dennis J. Morrissey, 22, of the 700 block of East Constitution Drive, Palatine, was arrested around 2:50 a.m. Feb. 27 at his apartment building and charged with knowingly damaging property. Police said he was intoxicated and became frustrated because his key would not open the glass entry door. He walked to his car, grabbed a hockey stick and shattered the door, reports said. bull; Rene J. Gilmore, 27, a resident of Bel-Air Motel, 536 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, was arrested around 6:45 a.m. Feb. 27 at the motel and charged with false report to 911. She phoned police claiming that a man residing in the same motel had pointed a gun at her and demanded $50 after she went to his room looking for toiletries, police said. In fact, she had paid him $50 for crack cocaine, but the substance she purchased was soap, reports said. Police said she wanted to get back at him, so she made the false report.bull; Burglars broke into a 2006 Toyota Solara in an apartment lot on the 700 block of East Pennsylvania Drive between 12:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. March 2 and stole a GPS valued at $500. bull; Burglars broke into a 2007 GMC Yukon and 2007 Jeep Wrangler in a store lot at 1331 N. Rand Road between 9 and 9:10 a.m. March 2 and stole a radar detector valued at $350 out of the Yukon and an iPod valued at $200 out of the Wrangler. bull; Moosong Paek, 34, of the 1100 block of Russetwood Court, Wheeling, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. March 2 after a traffic stop on the 1700 block of Rand Road and charged with local ordinance possession of marijuana.
