Local sound editor wins Reel award
A big hometown hurrah is in order for Schaumburg native DJ Lynch.
He won a Golden Reel award at last month's Motion Picture Sound Editors awards banquet for his work as dialogue and music editor on the animated Nickolodeon series "Penguins of Madagascar."
He was also nominated for his work on "SpongeBob SquarePants," but won for "Penguins of Madagascar."
Among the high-profile competition were the animated shows "Star Wars Clone Wars" and "Family Guy."
Lynch's locally shot teen-romance/superhero movie, "Missy and the Maxinator," continues to make the rounds of the film festival circuit in search of a distributor.
Among its more recent stops were the San Diego Comic Con last summer and the Austin Film Festival in October.
While Lynch usually works for others in film and television production, "Missy and the Maxinator" was his self-financed directorial debut.
