Addison fire destroys $45,000 in property
A Wednesday afternoon fire in Addison caused $45,000 worth of property damage to a Mulloy Drive house, rendering it uninhabitable.
Authorities said the fire started in and was limited to the basement of 1325 West Mulloy Drive.
Firefighters arrived at 2 p.m. and extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes of their arrival, Battalion Chief Joseph Leone said.
Nobody was hurt in the fire and the residents are staying in a local hotel. Extensive smoke and fire damage made the house unsafe, Leone said.
The fire's cause remains under investigation, but Leone suspects it may have originated in and around a clothes drier.
Fire personnel from Elmhurst and Itasca assisted.
