Geneva hydrant flushing Beginning today Geneva's water department will flush fire hydrants from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Signs will be posted in neighborhoods to remind residents. Refrain from doing laundry during flushing times, as it will stir up sediment that may stain clothing. The property in question is the subject of a Batavia Plan Commission public hearing that began in early September and continues Oct. 20.Rec center talksThe Batavia park board will hold community meetings to discuss the downtown recreation center project. The meetings are at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Batavia Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St., and the public is invited to attend and learn more about the project.Senior fun in ElburnThe Elburn Seniors club meets at 11:30 a.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Elburn Lions Club, 400 S. The award is given by SchoolSearch, a research and consulting firm that publishes online rankings of school systems to assist relocating families. The Bright A+ Award is given to districts where students' academic performance ranks in the top 5 percent of Illinois districts based on the 2009 Illinois School Report Cards.
