Hampshire's Heine named to AP second team
Hampshire senior Chrissy Heine was named Tuesday to the Associated Press' Class 3A second team all-state.
Heine, a 6-foot guard/forward, averaged 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in helping the Whip-Purs to a 29-2 season and a berth in the sectional finals.
Heine was a 53 percent shooter from the field and led the Whips with 105 assists and 85 steals.
Bartlett junior Jacki Gulczynski was an honorable mention selection to the Class 4A all-state team, which is voted on by a panel of statewide sports writers and broadcasters.
The Class 3A first team consisted of Jeanise Randolph of T.F. North, Uniquah Hampton of Hillcrest), Michala Johnson and Whitney Holloway of Montini and Zahna Medley of Springfield.
The Class 3A second team members are Heine, Brooke Schulte of Breese Mater Dei, Jordyne Crunk of Belleville Althoff, Samiya Wright of Oswego, and Mariah Smith of Peoria Richwoods.
In Class 4A, unanimous first-team honors went to Tricia Liston of Fenwick and Toni Kokenis of Hinsdale Central. TGhe remainder of the first team is Morgan Tuck and Ariel Massengale of Bolinngbrook and Jewell Loyd of Niles West. The second team is Janelle Cannon of Wheeling, Shonte Clay of Von Steuben, Marquisha Harris of Moline, Megan Rogowski of Hersey and Tierney Austin of Rockford Auburn.
