Elk Grove gets by Rolling Meadows
Elk Grove's girls basketball team remained one game out of first place in the Mid-Suburban East with a 40-29 victory at Rolling Meadows.
The Grenadiers (21-4, 6-3) were led by Ashley Capotosto's game-high 26 points, including 8 free throws.
"Ashley was phenomenal," said Grens coach Ryan Kirkorsky. "She had 18 points in the first half."
The Grens were without 6-foot-4 center Courtney Lindfors (16.7 ppg) because of a foot injury.
Olivia Roback and Kelly Naughton had really strong floor games," added Kirkorsky, whose club wraps up MSL East play when it hosts Hersey Friday night.
Hersey (18-7, 6-3) is tied with Elk Grove for second place in the East behidn Wheeling (7-2).
Rolling Meadows (11-14, 0-9) was led by Madelyn Conlin's 5 points.
Lyons Township 48, Maine West 42: Seniors Samantha Acosta (17 points) and Megan O'Neill (16) led the Warriors (9-17) in the nonconference game in Des Plaines.
