Streamwood traffic stop leads to drug bust

A traffic stop in Streamwood Sunday led to two arrests and a major drug bust.

According to documents in federal court, police stopped a car driven by Jennifer Camana, 21, at Route 59 and Schaumburg Road shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday for missing lights and Camana's failure to wear a seat belt. The complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court says Camana and her passenger, 38-year-old Julio Gomez-Bravo, consented to a search, and Gomez-Bravo was found to have tucked in his waistband a one-kilogram brick of a substance that field tested positive for cocaine.

After being read his rights, Gomez-Bravo admitted to dealing cocaine out of a garage in Chicago, the complaint says. A search warrant served Monday at the garage, at 2341 N. Kenneth Ave., turned up four additional kilo bricks, two smaller packages of cocaine and a smaller package of methamphetamine, and A search of Camana and Gomez-Bravo's residence, on the 4000 block of West Nelson Street in Chicago, produced $71,000 in cash, the document states.

Gomez-Bravo was charged with felony drug possession with intent to distribute and faces a federal detention hearing Friday. Camana was released on her own recognizance and has a Monday court date.
