Conservation good for conservatives

Letters of a political nature to this page seem to be only from those of the extreme right on the Republican side or the extreme left on the Democratic side. I while I enjoy reading the opinions of both, they do not represent the majority of citizens of the state of Illinois.

I am a Republican voter who is a supporter of Republicans for Environmental Protection. Yes, you read correctly, there is such a group. The motto is: "Nothing is more conservative than conservation."

Theodore Roosevelt said: "Conservation is a great moral issue, for it involves the patriotic duty of insuring the safety and continuance of the nation."

REP believes that a healthy environment and a sound economy are both essential to our nations prosperity." My vote for the U.S. Senate went to Rep. Mark Kirk. Good for the environment, good for the state of Illinois, and good for our country.
