Rolling Meadows home damaged by fire

A two-story single-family home just east of Meacham Road in Rolling Meadows was severely damaged by fire Friday.

No one was injured in the blaze, which was reported at about 3:30 p.m., said Batallion Chief Pete Till of the Rolling Meadows Fire Department. About 13 fire departments assisted in fighting the fire in the house on the 4700 block of Dawngate Lane, he said.

The cause of the fire was not known, but damage could be around $150,000, said Till. The room where the fire started was badly destroyed, and other rooms received smoke damage.

The family was planning to stay with relatives, he said.

Schaumburg police temporarily closed Meacham Road north of Algonquin Road to allow fire equipment access.
