Sexual abusers are always a threat
I am writing in response to an article about Laurie J. Augustine, a sex offender, who has not been released from prison because of not being able to find approved housing. Her mother states, "She is not a threat to society." I am a survivor of sexual abuse. Is her mother aware that almost all persons who have sexually abused continue that behavior for life?
Certainly just being in prison does not rehabilitate anyone. I can assure you that the three students she abused have been changed forever. Yes, they can go on to have good lives but it will be at a tremendous cost to them and the effects of the abuse will never been completely gone in this life. I am feeling bad for Ms. Augustine? I don't think so. Let her move to Montana or Wyoming where there is no one within 50 miles.
