Prospect Marching Knights to offer free car washes Aug. 14

The Prospect Marching Knights will hold their annual car wash at eight sites in Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14. Students will provide free car washes at the following locations:

• Brunswick Zone, 824 E. Rand, Road, Mount Prospect (next to Walmart)

• Community Presbyterian Church, 407 N. Main St., Mount Prospect (at Gregory St.)

• Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W Central Ave., Mount Prospect (Central and Northwest Highway)

• Mount Prospect Golf Club, 600 S. See-Gwun Ave., Mount Prospect (at Council Trail)

• Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1234 N. Arlington Heights. Rd., Arlington Heights (at Thomas St.)

• Prospect High School, 801 W. Kensignton Road, Mount Prospect

• Ravenswood Bank, 320 E. Northwest Highway, Mount Prospect (near Elm St.)

• Starck Prudential Realty, 300 W. Golf Road, Mount Prospect (northwest corner of Golf and Elmhurst roads)

While the car wash is completely free, students will seek individual sponsors to raise funds. Donations from the public are also welcome. All of the money raised will help defray the costs of the award-winning band's programs and activities as the Marching Knights embark on the 2010 marching season, which will culminate in a trip to the Bands of America (BOA) High School Super Regional competition in Atlanta, Ga.

"We're very appreciative of our local sponsors who make this event possible," says Bruce Kutnick, car wash committee co-chair. "The car wash contributes financially to the high caliber program our band students enjoy."
