Vote for McGwire sends wrong message
In Mike Imrem's column he said that he would once again vote to put Mark McGwire in the Hall of Fame, regardless of his admission of steroid use for a decade.
His rationale was that he was an exciting baseball player.
I disagree with his decision and think that sends the wrong message, especially to our youth that may be trying to get into college on an athletic scholarship and figure if the pros get rewarded for unethical behavior, then it must be all right. It isn't.
I passed a grade school on Olive Street and a large banner on the side of the building read; Character Counts in Arlington Heights. Now that's the right message.
