Registration open for District 79 kindergarten

Fremont School District 79 encourages parents to register their incoming Fall 2010 kindergartners during Kindergarten Preregistration Information Night on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Parents whose children's last names begin with A through L should register at 6 p.m., and parents whose children's last name begins with M through Z should register at 7 p.m. Registration takes place at Fremont Elementary School, 28908 N. Fremont Center Road, Mundelein.

Early registration allows parents to place their names in a lottery if they would like their child considered for morning kindergarten. It also helps administrators to determine the number of class sections that will be needed.

Any child 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2010, is eligible for kindergarten.

Bring the child's original certified county birth certificate with the seal affixed (not the hospital copy). The school will make a copy and return the original to parents that evening.

Families new to the district, or parents who have no students currently enrolled in the district, will need to bring proof of residency. Bring any two of the following documents with current address: closing documents on a home, receipt of rent paid, drivers license, utility bill, or prior year's tax bill.
