Vernon Hills man charged with felony DUI

A 31-year-old Vernon Hills man is charged with felony drunken driving after his arrest in Arlington Heights early Saturday morning.

This is the second time Erik Tinoco has been charged with DUI in the past four years, prosecutors said at a bond hearing in Rolling Meadows Saturday. Tinoco was arrested at 3 a.m. following a traffic stop near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Reserve Drive.

Additionally, Tinoco is charged with driving with a revoked license and improper lane use. His license was revoked because of his prior DUI conviction, prosecutors said.

Police reported Tinoco failed field sobriety tests and his blood alcohol level was at .085 when he submitted to a breath test. A blood alcohol content above .08 is considered legally drunk in Illinois.

Tinoco is being held at the Cook County jail in lieu of a $10,000 bail. His next court date is Jan. 9.
