Lake County YMCAs open on New Year’s

Both Lake County Family YMCA facilities will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 1 for those wanting to get started right away on resolutions to lose weight or get in shape.

Central Lake YMCA, 700 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills, and Northern Lake YMCA, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan, will be open New Year’s Day, but the swimming pools will be closed.

Become a member of either Y during the month of January and the joiner’s fee will be waived. Also, those who sign up Jan. 1 are eligible for one-month’s free membership — in April — plus a chance to win one of four new bicycles for kids ages 7 to 10.
