‘Multiple offenders’ break into Mt. Prospect home

Mount Prospect police say “multiple offenders,” including at least one armed with a handgun, were involved in a home invasion on Friday morning.

Police responded to the 1200 block of Boxwood Drive at 10:18 a.m. After interviewing the three occupants of the home, they determined that the residence was specifically targeted.

The three victims sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

Nearby Euclid Elementary School, which is about 800 feet away, was placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution, but it was lifted by 11:15 a.m. after police canvassed the neighborhood and determined the criminals were no longer in the area, authorities said.

Police said there is no danger to the community at large, and they continue to investigate.
