CASA Kane County, a local nonprofit that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court, recently welcomed three new members to its board of directors.
Dan Dolan of Oswego is a real estate broker with an office in Aurora. Dolan is passionate about providing food to the hungry, and he is very involved in the annual holiday food drive benefiting the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry. According to Dolan, “I believe that children of abuse and neglect need someone in their lives that CARE. Our CASA volunteers are that someone! They are unsung heroes to me, and I want to be a part of making sure that they are always there for these Children.” He currently serves as co-chair of CASA Kane County's Grow a Healthy Child Program and Operational Endowment Committee, as well as co-chair of the Chairman's Advisory Panel.
Jennifer Fisher of Geneva is an attorney with Howard & Howard in Chicago. Fisher served as the co-chair for many of CASA Kane County's recent gala events and has been active on the agency's Chairman's Advisory Panel. “I have been involved with CASA in other capacities for a number of years, and have witnessed firsthand the powerful and positive ways in which this organization impacts the lives of children in our community. I was honored to join CASA's very talented board, and look forward to the opportunity it gives me to help children less fortunate than my own reach their full potential in life,” Fisher said.
Jerry Rose of Aurora is president and CEO of Total Living Network in Aurora. He has spent 30 years on the board of National Religious Broadcasters and 32 years with TLN. Rose initially became involved with CASA through its Chairman's Advisory Panel, and recently produced a public service announcement for the organization that will air on local Comcast stations throughout the region. Rose shared, “I can't imagine anything more important than helping an abused and neglected child have a better chance in life. CASA gives them that “better chance”. CASA's ads say “find your place.” I've found mine.”
Last year, 213 Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers represented over 500 abused and neglected children in juvenile and probate courts. For more information about the CASA program, visit casakanecounty.org.
