COD names new associate dean of social and behavioral sciences

Marianne Hunnicutt brings a diverse set of skills to her new role as associate dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Employed at College of DuPage since 1992, the Woodridge resident has been a psychology instructor at COD, receiving the Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Award in 1995; was principal investigator, research assistant and then coordinator of the Innovation Incubator; was coordinator of Educational Research; worked as a geographic information systems specialist; was coordinator of the Institute for Economic and Community Development; and was a research associate for Academic Planning and Assessment, Research and Planning, and the Academic Affairs Division, where her duties included serving as the Program Review manager.

This unique background provides her with valuable tools as she oversees the College's Anthropology, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education and Care, Economics, Education, Geography, Human Services, Political Science, Psychology, Social Science and Sociology programs.

“These skills allow me to be strategic,” she said. “I want to work toward improving student learning outcomes, grow enrollment and retain students. I need to know what our students are learning and provide for their changing needs.”

Hunnicutt would like to align all of her programs and disciplines in order to take advantage of their similarities while still cultivating each program's individual strengths. This will ultimately improve enrollment and retention, she said.

“I really enjoy strategic and leadership roles,” she said. “Because of the wide range of experience that I've gained at the College during the past 19 years, I'm in a unique position to apply all of my knowledge as I work with my programs and the other academic leaders.”
