Schaumburg cops step up traffic enforcement
The Schaumburg Police Department has received a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to target seat belt and impaired driving violations during multiple campaigns to be conducted from Nov. 14 through next Sept. 30.
The first enforcement period, the Thanksgiving Mobilization, will run Nov. 14 to Nov. 27, and will coincide with “Click it or Ticket,” a program targeting vehicle occupants who fail to wear seat belts.
Each of the grant campaigns will consist of Seatbelt Enforcement Zones, Roving DUI and Seatbelt Saturation Patrol, and DUI/Safety Checkpoints. Officers will be utilizing a “zero tolerance” approach, police said.
