OfficeMax surprises 2 Dist. 15 teachers

As part of its nationwide “A Day Made Better” program, OfficeMax presented both Molly Mahoney, a third-grade teacher at Jane Addams School in Palatine, and Donna Morris, a reading consultant specialist at Stuart R. Paddock School in Palatine, with an award and a gift package containing $1,000 of classroom supplies, including a new leather chair, a printer and a digital camera.

One day each year, the “A Day Made Better” program presents these gift packages to 1,000 teachers as a means of drawing attention to teacher-funded classrooms. According to OfficeMax and Adopt-a-Classroom, the retailer’s nonprofit partner for the “A Day Made Better” program, teachers spend an average of $1,000 of their own money on classroom supplies each year.

Nominated by their schools, teachers receive this honor for their exceptional contributions as an educator. Mahoney was nominated for the award by David Morris, Jane Addams School principal; and Morris was nominated by Teresa Reiche, Stuart R. Paddock School assistant principal.
