Culver's looking at Bloomingdale location next year

Wisconsin-based Culver's is looking to open a new restaurant in Bloomingdale next year.

Village President Franco Coladipietro spoke about the business coming to town during his State of the Village address in July, while also highlighting other businesses that have opened in the village since last year. The proposed 4,100-square-foot restaurant would be in the unused portion of the Meijer parking lot on the north side of Schick Road, adjacent to, and immediately south of, Meijer.

The restaurant's interior will have seating for 81 customers. It will include a drive-through, kitchen/food prep area, office, and cooler/freezer for food storage.

Developers McCON Building Corp. will go before the Bloomingdale plan commission Aug. 17 to seek approval. Coladipietro said the development will not get off the ground until 2022.

Sean Gascoigne, the village's director of community and economic development, said the Meijer parking lot remained underused for years and the grocer decided to market some of the property.

Culver's would join Raising Cane's, another restaurant that recently opened in Bloomingdale. The Louisiana-based chicken restaurant opened in March.
