Schaumburg police continue to search for motorcylists, reveal new details

Schaumburg police have released additional information as they continue to ask for the public’s help in finding two motorcyclists involved in a recent accident that seriously injured an officer.

An Elk Grove Village police officer riding a police motorcycle lost control and crashed at 6:42 p.m. Oct. 10 when he attempted to stop two motorcyclists. The two drivers didn’t stop and kept going after the crash happened at Martingale Road about two-thirds of a mile south of Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

The investigation revealed that both motorcycles were last seen driving northbound into Schaumburg from Elk Grove Village on Martingale Road. Police are now saying that the cyclists exited Route 53 to westbound Biesterfield Road and then turned onto northbound Martingale Road.

Police said both drivers wore dark leather jackets and one driver sported a green helmet with “Mohawk” on the top. Both motorcycles were described as dark in color and are a “high performance” style.

The injured officer was released after a stay at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. He continues to recover at home from his injuries.

Anyone with information about the two riders is asked to call Schaumburg police at (847) 882-3534.
