St. Charles school custodian attacked, robbed

St. Charles police are looking for three men who assaulted and robbed a custodian at an elementary school hours after school let out last week.

The custodian working inside Munhall Elementary School Thursday on the east side of St. Charles heard a voice coming from the gymnasium, and when he entered, three men in their early 20s approached him, according to police.

About 8:25 p.m. Thursday, police received a call from the custodian, who reported that the three men punched him and threw him to the ground before stealing his wallet.

The custodian fell into a table next to the wall during the attack and was later taken to Delnor Hospital for treatment.

It is not known how the men got into the school, but they were last seen running east through the school's playground, according to police.

Another custodian at the school spotted two men looking into the windows at the school around 6 p.m., but it is not clear if they were the same men, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at (630) 377-4435.
