Authorities investigating death of Vernon Hills teen

The Lake County coroner and Vernon Hills police are investigating the “suspicious” death of a 15-year-old girl over the weekend.

The girl, whose name was not released Sunday by authorities, was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m. Saturday at Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Coroner Artis Yancy said.

An autopsy scheduled for Monday could help determine the girl’s cause of death, he added.

Vernon Hills police confirmed Sunday that a death investigation is under way, but declined further comment.

According to numerous sources the girl was a student at Vernon Hills High School.
