Metra train hits unoccupied car in Cary

Metra trains on the Union Pacific Northwest Line were delayed Tuesday morning after a train hit an unoccupied car at a grade crossing in Cary.

Union Pacific train number 604 hit the unoccupied vehicle at Three Oaks Road, Metra spokesman Tom Miller said early Tuesday.

He said no one was injured in the crash, and that officials are still trying to determine why the car was on the tracks.

Train 604 was delayed for about 50 minutes, Miller said.

He said most trains on the track were running about 15 minutes behind schedule.
