Huntley makes school history

The Huntley boys golf team made school history Thursday by beating Prairie Ridge to clinch no worse than a tie for the Valley Division title in the Fox Valley Conference. The conference title is the first in Huntley boys golf history, according to coach Jim Rolando.

Huntley defeated Prairie Ridge 153-163 at Prairie Isle Golf Club in Crystal Lake, led by freshman Trent Craig (36), junior Ryan Craig (37), junior A.J. Fanselow (38), sophomore Gage Jereb (42) and senior Mason Wicks (42).

Huntley (11-1, 5-1) won three road matches in four days to clinch a tie for its first league championship. The Red Raiders’ only Valley Division loss was by a stroke last week to Cary-Grove, which can still forge a tie for the title by winning its remaining match against Crystal Lake South.

“That’s so great for the kids to come out and shoot so well when it mattered,” Rolando said. “They all knew what they were playing for and they came through.”
