Grayslake North tops Vernon Hills
Grayslake North 3, Vernon Hills 1: Carson Klarck scored early in the first half and set up Baruk Perez-Vera’s second-half goal that put the nonconference match away for the Knights.

“We showed a big improvement from our last game, and we again showed the ability to learn from our mistakes and play the way we know how to play,” Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said. “We were aggressive to every loose ball and made it as difficult as possible for Vernon Hills to get comfortable. The boys worked hard for each other and played as a unit from the entire game.”
Evan Borden scored for Vernon Hills (1-3) off an assist from Matt Tabrizi in the second half.
Lake Zurich 3, New Trier 1: At Barrington, Carlo Fava scored off a Justin Marcos corner kick in the second half, snapping a 1-1 tie, and propelling the Bears to their first win of the season.
John Pothast scored twice for Lake Zurich (1-1-2). Brenden Seeger set up the first with a corner kick.
