Look which party’s hurting middle class
The Republicans often accuse the Democrats of conducting class warfare. But I wonder? Which party has proposed cuts that adversely affect only the middle class, the working poor and the absolute poor? Which state governors have only cut employees, salaries, retirements and left untouched their own and their staffs’ salaries? Which party has refused to consider the tax benefits that allows companies such as G.E. to pay no income tax while their mailroom clerks pay 15 percent to 25 percent?
Which party refuses to terminate subsidies to Big Oil while they continue to reap billions and billions of dollars in profits year after year while supporting the immoral fiscal molestation of each and every one of us when we fill up our gas tanks? Which party has continued to try to kill consumer protections recently enacted while those responsible for this current economic mess continue to thrive with multimillion-dollar salaries and bonuses?
And finally which party wants to take away health insurance from millions of people with pre-existing conditions such as cancer and pregnancy, college students, the lower middle class who cannot afford insurance?
So I must ask myself, when the Republicans risk financial chaos by defaulting on U.S. debt just because someone had the temerity to suggest that their procurers contribute a little bit more, just which party is engaged in economic terrorism? Why any middle-class person would vote for a Republican escapes me unless of course he or she aspires to become a parasite too. It’s like donating the bullets that the firing squad is going to use to execute you!
