Ex-FBI agent to chronicle Operation Greylord at Montgomery dinner

"Operation Greylord: The True Story of America's Biggest Undercover Corruption Bust" will be detailed at the Aurora Navy League Council 247 dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Grandma's Table Restaurant, 1700 Douglas Road in Montgomery.

The public is invited.

Chicago resident Terry Hake, a Cook County assistant state's attorney and former FBI agent, will chronicle his undercover work that helped convict a record number of Cook County corrupt judges and attorneys.

From 1980 to 1983, Hake wore a recording device to tape conversations with corrupt judges and attorneys. After serving as a prosecuting state's attorney, he became an FBI agent in the undercover sting. He recently wrote a book titled "Operation Greylord."

Hake graduated from Loyola University School of Law in 1977. He served three years as a prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorney's office and as an agent in the FBI's Chicago office. He retired from the Department of Justice in 2008.

Hake lectures on legal and professional ethics to students, attorneys, auditors and business professionals. Venues have included Yale University, University of Illinois and University of Chicago. A resident of the north shore in Cook County, he is married with grown children.

The dinner meeting will open with a reception at 5:15 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. The menu includes a choice of fish, chicken or beef entrees with soup or salad, rolls, vegetables, dessert and nonalcoholic drink.

The cost is $20. A dinner salad for $12 includes soup, rolls, dessert and nonalcoholic beverage. A cash bar will be offered.
