Batavia Park District Offers Full Schedule of Events This Holiday Season

There will be no shortage of holiday fun this season at the Batavia Park District! From free and low fee events like Celebration of Lights to the tradition of The Polar Express, families will have plenty of options for fun during the winter months.

Kick off the season at Celebration of Lights on Sunday, November 27 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Batavia Riverwalk. This free event offers tractor-pulled wagon rides, free roasted chestnuts, a community sing-a-long, bake sale, tree lighting ceremony and of course, a visit with Santa! Share breakfast with Santa Claus on Saturday, December 3 from 8:30-10:00 a.m. at the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St. After you've gotten your fill of pancakes and sausage, give Santa your "wish list" and receive a special gift. Entertainment will begin at 9:15 a.m. after Santa's departure, and kids will be part of the show! Don't forget the camera! The cost is $13 for residents, $15 for Batavia nonresidents or $17 for nonresidents. Register as a family of four to receive a discount.

Children will be delighted with a call from Santa, Mrs. Claus or one of Santa's elves on Thursday, December 8. Register at the Park District Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St. by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7. Calls will be placed between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. on December 8. The cost is just $1 to participate.

Adults with children clad in pajamas, robes and slippers are welcomed on a magical journey aboard the Polar Express. Sip rich hot chocolate and enjoy a reading of the popular children's tale as we make our way to the North Pole where Santa will present each child with a special gift! The Polar Express will be held on Sunday, December 11 from 5:40-6:40 p.m. or 6:45-7:45 p.m. at the John Duerr Forest Preserve, Rt. 31 in South Elgin. The cost is $25 for residents, $29 for Batavia nonresidents and $33 for nonresidents. Register early to ensure your spot.

New this year – Bring the family out to Shannon Hall, 14 N. Van Buren St., on Saturday, December 17 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for a Holiday Movie Experience. Enjoy hot chocolate and holiday treats while you watch the children's classic “The Polar Express”. Come in your pj's and bring blankets and pillows to enjoy the show. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $10 for residents, $12 for Batavia nonresidents and $13 for nonresidents. Children under 2 are free and do not need to register.
