Mt. Prospect Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk Adopt-A-Block

Would you like to show your support for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk For the Cure but you can't walk 60 miles? No time for the months of required training? Difficult donating cash this year?

Then join the Mount Prospect Special Events Commission's 3-Day Adopt-A-Block

Saturday, Aug. 6 the second day of the Chicago BREAST CANCER 3-DAY WALK will be entering Mount Prospect on Golf Road and Rt. 83 and proceed northwest towards Melas Park. The walkers re-enter Mount Prospect at Euclid Avenue and Rt. 83 Elmhurst Road and proceed east towards Wolf Road.

You or your group will be assigned a block along the way to show your appreciation to the walkers. The walkers will enter Mount Prospect about 8 a.m. and leave around 5 p.m., however your commitment could be as little as an hour or up to 3 hours.

Day 2 is the hardest for the walkers as the adrenalin rush from Day 1 has worn off and the end is nowhere in sight. You can help the walkers by ADOPTING-A-BLOCK along the route, providing the walkers encouragement and support. Your family, church, school or neighborhood can create a decorated area where you can provide music or refreshments, or just smiling faces and applause to the hardworking and dedicated walkers. Several scouting organizations have already shown an interest as well as schools.

This is a great opportunity to show everyone that Mount Prospect is “Where Friendliness is a Way of Life!”

There are no fees to participate in this worthwhile endeavor. For more information and to be assigned a block, contact Tarina Wimmer at 847 269-6277 or email the Mount Prospect Special Events Commission about this event at thinkpinkinmp@gmail.com
