Swedish Days ride will take to county roads

More than 600 riders are expected at the 42nd annual Swedish Days ride, sponsored by the Fox Valley Bicycle and Ski Club, on Sunday, June 26. This event will take place on scenic country roads across the entire length of Kane County. The ride starts near Burlington at the Central High School on Plato Road, one mile west of Route 47.

Registration opens at 6 a.m. and continues until 9:30 a.m. Registration is $25 for a single rider or $45 per family. Riders can register in advance at active.com until June 23. The first 300 preregistered riders will receive a free FVBSC water bottle.

The ride fee includes free refreshments and snacks at four rest stops. There are well-marked routes for 25, 45, 62, 75, 100 or 124 miles, all on paved low-traffic roads. The Kane County Sheriff and the police departments of all towns on the route will be notified of the event.

The Fox Valley Bicycle and Ski Club is a nonprofit group that encourages biking and outdoor activities in the area, as well as group trips to events outside the Fox Valley area. A large portion of the funds raised will be donated to nonprofit groups with the goal of promoting biking in Illinois, especially in the Fox Valley area.
