Grayslake Central powers past North

Grayslake Central's baseball team scored 18 runs in the first two innings to defeat Grayslake North 18-0 in Class 3A regional play, extending its winning streak to eight games.

The host Rams struck quickly when leadoff man Josh DeAngelis homered in the bottom of the first inning. DeAngelis, who had 3 hits, later singled later in the six-run first inning. Austin Miller launched a 3-run homer in the first.

Mike Gentile tripled, doubled and singled for Grayslake Central. Andrew Hosford added a double and single and 2 RBI, and Angelo Gargano and Stefan Falbo each added a pair of singles.

Kevin DeRue tossed 3 shutout innings. Mitch Tielke and Nick Richter each pitched a scoreless inning for Grayslake Central (28-7), which earned a berth in its own regional final at 11 a.m. Saturday against the winner of today's game between Antioch and Lakes.

Stevenson 10, Deerfield 0: The Patriots earned a berth in their own Class 4A regional final at 10 a.m. Saturday against the winner of today's game between Fremd and Prospect.
