Sign up for Relay For Life in Hanover Twp.

Friends, neighbors and cancer survivors are preparing for the 11th annual Relay For Life of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood.

This year’s event will be at 6 p.m. Friday, June 17, to 6 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Hanover Township, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett.

“Relay For Life is a fun, family-focused event where the community comes together in the fight against cancer,” said Mike Kalke, event chairman. “One in two men and one in three women have a lifetime risk of being diagnosed with cancer. So many lives are touched by cancer. We Relay so that someday we will be able to eliminate this disease forever.”

Relay For Life is an overnight event where teams of local businesses, schools, churches, community groups and families build awareness and raise funds — before and at the event — to fight cancer.

“We are thrilled to be able to partner with the American Cancer Society for Relay For Life,” said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township supervisor. “This is a great cause where teams of all ages can participate and raise money.”

Volunteers are needed to organize and recruit teams, secure community support, coordinate logistics, obtain refreshments and prizes, assist with publicity and plan entertainment activities.

For details on the kickoff celebration, contact the American Cancer Society at (847) 368-1166 or visit relayforlifebhps.com. Teams may register online anytime.
