Elgin salon owner fuses social conscience with style

Sheri D, center, owner of Elgin's Sé Mō Hair Salon and Spa, describes her custom-designed hair-restoration products while boosting breast-cancer awareness during the "Divas Day 2011 Masquerade Luncheon" at Avalon Banquets in Elk Grove Village.

The April 30 event celebrated women worldwide with the motto “every woman is a diva.”

A volunteer in the “Look Good ... Feel Better” cancer-survivor program, Sheri donates custom-made wigs to eligible cancer survivors and coordinates free group makeup sessions.
