U-46 school news for week of May 30
On Monday, all schools and offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.
Ellis Middle School
On Thursday, the school will present a Choral Concert at 7 p.m. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult and $6 per family. Senior citizens age 62 and over, within U-46 boundaries, may attend for free.
Larsen Middle School
On Friday, students in 8th grade will hold their Recognition Night at Elgin High School at 7 p.m.
Tefft Middle School
On Wednesday, students in 8th grade will leave at 9:15 a.m. to travel to Navy Pier in Chicago for a cruise on Lake Michigan. They will return at the end of the school day.
On Thursday, student led conferences will be held at the school from 5-7 p.m. Parents will view their child's academic progress and receive their MAP scores. Registration packets will also be distributed for the next school year. Parents can also receive information on summer activities.
A Community Resource Fair will also be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Streamwood and Bartlett High School representatives will be there to answer questions on academics and sports. Tefft has also partnered with Hanover Youth and Family Services, Wayne/Winfield Area Youth & Family Services, Bartlett and Park Place Community Centers, Streamwood Falcons, Poplar Creek and Bartlett libraries, and tutoring agencies (Huntington Learning Center & the Tutoring Club). Dominoe's Pizza and Sam's Club will have food available for purchase. Raffle prizes will also be given.
On Friday, students in 8th grade receiving special awards and recognition, will be honored at an Awards Assembly at 2 p.m.
Also on Friday at 7 p.m., an 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony will be held at the Streamwood High School gym. No tickets are needed.
Horizon Elementary
On Monday, June 6, the 6th Grade Recognition Program will be held in the school gym at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served by the PTO at the end of the program.
Washington Elementary
On Tuesday, Field Day will be held at the school for students in grades K-2. Students in grades 3-6 will hold their Field Day at Abbott Field in the morning.
