Criticism of Obama misguided
On May 7 a lady from South Elgin wrote that President Obama does not deserve any allegiance for the past events. Well, this lady needs to get her facts straight.
First, a recent poll states that 80 percent of the people blame Bush for the economy. Obama initiated many programs, including regulations to stop the banking industry from further disastrous treatments of mortgage holders. The GOP under George Bush did nothing to stop the horrendous abuses by the banks and never wanted any regulations. He eliminated many of them during this term.
The fact that Obama initiated national health care puts America somewhere less below other countries that have had such programs for years. My son was treated after a serious car accident in Germany, and his care was covered by their state health care program. Thanks to the terrific trauma care he received he is now a successful businessman some 20 years later.
As for bin Laden's burial at sea, it was in conjunction with Muslim religious rites to do so. Al-Qaida has acknowledged his death. What more does she need?
Those right wing advocates who tout George Bush and try to compare his presidency to Obama are full of you know what. We spend eight years of lies as he, Cheney and Rove tried to bullwhip this country. Anyone who thinks Bush was an asset does not know that he will go down in history as the worst president we have had.
As for no drilling for oil, when will people realize that more drilling won't make a difference without proper safeguards? Oil companies need to build more refineries, and that would takes 10 years to happen.
Only when the rich oil companies stop inflating gas prices, begin to hire employees and lose their tax breaks, will things change for the man at the gas pump.
